Remembering Kirk Wilson

It's been a pretty sad and reflective past week for those of us in the security industry as we lost a brother while on duty at a music festival in Mexico. Kirk Wilson was a seasoned veteran and highly respected in our field and loved by everyone that came in contact with him. He was extremely grounded, humble and had no ego thus making him so personable when dealing with patrons. He was looked up to by all of the security personnel in the city both literally and figuratively speaking as he we was a towering presence with such a wealth of experience.

How do we explain this tragedy? How do we deal with it? how do we cope? Trying to understand this senseless act of hate and violence that claimed our dear brother's life is almost impossible. Anyone in their right mind and with love in their heart can never comprehend such hate so we ought not focus on it. We stand with one another in unity bound by chords of love that cannot not be broken. We grieve together. We choose love over hate and we make a choice to honour Kirk Wilson and keep his legacy alive. We remember him for all that he has done for so many and the man that he was. We support his family through it all and keep all the memories that we shared alive.

Kirk Wilson you are gone but never forgotten. You are a hero, a legend. You died sacrificially in the line of duty and we honour you for that. Rest in peace to our fallen hero!
