This past week in Toronto it has been brutal in terms of snow storms and freezing temperatures. Specifically on Thursday it was really bad with a lot of closures and cancellations all across the city. Unfortunately in our industry there are no snow days, safety is always needed so for us the show must go on.
I want to take this opportunity to dedicate this blog to three Sentinel Soldiers who really stepped up and saved the day.
Within our company a lot of the members of our team live outside of the city and it is quite the drive in normal conditions. Factor in the storm and you're looking at 3-4 hours in travel time one way. With that said we had to make quite a bit of adjustments to ensure that our personnel was also safe and not travelling in dangerous road conditions. Combine that with the last minute requests from some of our clients and you have a recipe for failure.....that is unless you have soldiers like Godwin Asante, Chris Wright and Chris Lung on your team.
These guys were outstanding and literally dropped what they were doing to ensure all of our clients sites had adequate coverage. We had our scheduler on the phone for the entire evening acting as a dispatcher shuffling things around to make it work and without those three gentlemen it would not have been possible. They literally had to travel to 9 different sites between all of them to fill in until coverage came. They were swift, took direction and showed no signs of frustration in the midst of the storm. They maintained their poise and composure and made it on time everywhere they were sent thus allowing our clients business to run smoothly and uninterrupted. When it was all said and done, not one of our clients were without security and no one was even late.
This is who we are as a company. This is the type of personnel we look to bring on. Those that are ready and willing to get the job done at all costs. We are constantly in pursuit of those that are not high maintenance and whose minds are always fixed on finding solutions verses focusing on problems.
With that said we would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Godwin, Chris W and Chris L for your dedication and service. We could not do it without you.
