Over the last few weeks we have been giving you a behind the scenes glimpse of our personnel in the Humans of Sentinel series. These are the people who define who we are day today. The people who represent Sentinel to the highest standard. The people who will make your event a success.
This week we will be highlighting Oscar Orozco.
Oscar has been with the Sentinel family for close to 5 years. From the moment he first joined the team to the present day, Oscar has remained consistent, professional and extremely loyal. Oscar has proven himself to be a dependable vital member amongst his colleagues and an asset to our management team.
Along with working the front line with the rest of the team, Oscar also represents Sentinel as a supervisor as well as an account manager for various client sites including the Hard Rock Cafe. But just who exactly is Oscar? Lets's take a trip back into time and and find out how it all began...

Oscar arrived in Canada in the early 90s leaving his hometown during the unsettling times of war, revolution, oppression and persecution in Latin America. With a brand new fresh start in life Oscar pursued and finished his studies in Economics and International Law in Ottawa to attempt and pursue a career in the Canadian Army or the Ottawa Carleton Police Services.
After running a small car wash business for some time, Oscar's desires to gain more experience in his field resulted in joining the Ottawa International Airport, in the Pre – boarding security department on a part time basis. After several attempts, Oscar received full time status. Oscar quickly climbed the ladder showing management he was able to bring more to the table and was awarded a Supervisor position that allowed him to become an instrumental piece in the development and training department for the Pre – Boarding team. Shortly after Oscar became a junior trainer manager.
A couple of years of hard work and dedication, Oscar was promoted to a Pre – Boarding Security Duty Manager. Oscars new duties included overseeing the training and hiring department, creating and selecting a variety of new pre –boarding guards with a variety and diverse broad background, and speaking 13 different languages to serve the passengers community in a better way and a better approach to their needs.
During his career at the Ottawa International Airport, with the unexpected terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Oscar had the opportunity to engage into several anti terrorist programs with both, the Canadian Government and the USA immigration authorities.
As a firm believer in giving back to the community, Oscar volunteered at the Ottawa Salvation Army, for the Community Emergency Response Team. The "CERT"
specialized in responding to mayor disasters such as earthquakes, floods, fires, airplane crashes, terrorist attacks and and any challenge a given community might experience.
With the transition of the new Government policies toward terrorism and his extensive experience in the field, Oscar helped create a broad deep detailed training program for the Pre – Boarding screening staff that specialized in detecting any type of weapons such as knifes, guns, cutting devises, etc or potential explosive material in carry-on luggage.
Oscar found great pride after each shift knowing that his involvement in the new developed training procedures was not only proving to be a great success, but was quickly adopted as a training program across Canada.
Shortly after, Oscar was relocated and moved to Toronto where he continued his role in the training department at Pearson International Airport, but due to a recession in the works followed by a temporary economic decline in 2008, Oscar's contract was cancelled.

In the height of a recession, Oscar did not let this get the best of him and continued to pursue other opportunities in the security industry essentially starting a new relationship with Sentinel Security. Oscar states "I had a great deal of experience in the corporate security sector which allowed an opportunity with Sentinel Security Plus.
The experience I have received is one I have never experienced before and has opened many doors to meet different people, as well working along a number of professional security personnel ensuring the safety and the success of our client sites".

On his personal time, Oscar loves to spend time with his family. One of his favourite things to do is studying Criminal Psychology and human behaviour. Oscar acknowledges that although work is a big part of his life, he also needs to ensure he is living a healthy spiritual lifestyle.
Oscar keeps fit and trains in the arts of kung-fu, kempo karate and krav maga as well loves to train at his local community gym . As an avid outdoors man, Oscar enjoys camping, hiking and fishing with his family during the summer time.
At the end of it all, Oscar pushes forward looking for the best in life. "I believe in the balance of equality and the fairness in life. I believe in my God and he is my guide through all".
